Mayflower Heritage Guides offer interesting, engaging and informative guided tours of Southampton City, following the footsteps of the separatists, sailors, Settlers and servants as they shop in the streets of Southampton Old Town.

This tour currently runs on Sundays at 1.30pm, from 'the Bargate' in the middle of the city. It costs £6.00, is about 90 minutes long, covers about half a mile or so (mainly on the flat, and with only a few gentle slopes and steps) and takes in a number of sites surviving from and linked to the Pilgrim Fathers, their associates and the 'Mayflower' itself. Other local landmarks and historical connections may crop up in passing, as well...

It's very user-friendly, with a knowledgeable and articulate guide who brought a number of things to life. He even added some new stuff that I didn't know (as someone US-born-and bred, but resident in the UK for 43+ years and living near Southampton since 1994!).

This walk is highly recommended by us for anyone, whether American or otherwise, and both dedicated history buffs or just general visitors.
